Marvin Residency:  609 Appomatox Dr (Bridle Path Estates at Wyndham Hall) since 2007

Family:  wife, Jennifer, son Benjamin who is a plebe at West Point and an MRHS grad, and daughter Julia at Marvin Elementary. 

Most important issue:  There is a need for greater collaboration with more listening and understanding between council and residents, and a focus on fiscal responsibility and lower density managed growth.  

 

Tom Eck - Candidate for Village of Marvin Council

Age: 60

Occupation:  Corporate Attorney

Employer:  USAA

Education:  BA, political science, magna cum laude, University of Southern California, 1986.  JD, University of Southern California, 1989

Marvin Residency:  4012 Autumn Blossom Lane (Marvin Creek HOA) since 2021

Family:  wife, Elizabeth (fundraiser for Queens College of Charlotte); son, Brian (stand-up comedian in Nashville); daughters Lauren (student at Savannah College of Art and Design) and Jillian (student at University of Georgia and Marvin Ridge HS graduate)

Most Important Issue:  Restoring public confidence in the Village Council through grounded and transparent decision making on growth, taxes and civic projects.

 

Fred Ilarraza - Candidate for Village of Marvin Council

Age: 47 

Occupation:  Entrepreneur  and formerly adjunct professor for the City University of New York

Education:  Attended Ithaca College

Marvin Residency:  7600 Stonehaven Dr (Weddington Chase) since 2021.

Family:  Wife, Courtney, son Ben, a rising sophomore at Rollins College, FL and graduate of MRHS, and daughters Mila, a rising tenth grader at MRHS, and Remington, a rising fourth grader at Rea View Elementary.

Most important issue:  The GO Bonds were evidence of government off the rails which is the main reason I decided to run.  I also have concerns about responsible growth that preserves what we love about Marvin, and the increasing taxes in Marvin.

 

Angel Martin - Candidate for Village of Marvin Council

Age: 58

Occupation: Small business owner

Employer: Madison on Main and Goldensglen Goldens

Education:  BA in political science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1989 and MA in journalism from the University of Mississippi, 1991 

Marvin Residency: 8914 Laurelwood Ln  (Providence Estates) since 2018

Family:  Husband, Joel, who is the CEO of Allied Industries, and our three children Jody (38), Zach (24) and Quinn (20).

Most important issue:

I believe government should work for the people—not against them. I oppose unnecessary tax hikes, reckless growth, and top-down decisions that ignore the community. I stand for common sense, fiscal responsibility, and putting local voices first.
